Hydrangea 'Magical Kilimanjaro' - Elegant Giant with Exceptional Frost Hardiness

Hydrangea 'Magical Kilimanjaro' is an exceptionally elegant panicle hydrangea with strong red-tinged stems and massive, dense, cone-shaped flower heads that can grow up to 30-40 cm long. Its extraordinary frost hardiness - down to -30 to -34C - makes it one of the most reliable choices for Estonian gardens.

Growing Conditions

• Position: Sunny to lightly partially shaded - more sun means larger flower heads
• Soil: Fertile, humus-rich, moderately moist, well-drained; prefers slightly acidic to neutral
• Height and width: approx. 1.2-1.5 m

Care Tips

• Watering: Hydrangeas love water. During dry periods, water regularly and thoroughly - less frequently but more generously. Direct water to the root zone, avoiding leaves and flowers.
• Pruning: As 'Magical Kilimanjaro' blooms on the current year's shoots, prune in early spring before buds break. Cut back previous year's growth by 1/3 to 1/2 (leaving 2-3 buds), encouraging strong new branches and giant flower heads.
