About the Plant

Paeonia Itoh 'Smith Family Yellow' is a stunning intersectional peony prized for its exceptionally pure and uniform golden-yellow colour. Unlike many yellow Itoh peonies, the reddish flares at the petal base are minimal or virtually absent, resulting in a remarkably clean and consistent bloom. Paired with extraordinary frost and disease resistance, this is a standout variety for any garden.

Flowers

• Large semi- to fully double blooms, 15–20 cm in diameter
• Vivid gold to lemon-yellow — exceptionally pure and uniform colour
• Minimal or no reddish flares at petal base
• Mid-season flowering

Growth Habit

• Height: up to 90 cm
• Exceptionally strong Itoh-type stems — no staking needed, holds large blooms upright in wind and rain

Care Instructions

• Light: Full sun to light partial shade
• Planting: Plant bare-root in autumn. Buds (eyes) must be exactly 3–5 cm below the soil surface — planting too deep will prevent flowering.
• Frost hardy to -35°C
• Excellent disease resistance
